Evernote (Platforms: Mac OS X, Windows, iPhone / iPod touch, Blackberry, Palm Pre, Sony Ericsson X1, Windows Mobile) is a notes taking, organizing software. You can access the notes from your desktop app, phone, and the web. All you need is an account. Luckily Evernote offers a free account.

So is it good? Let’s find out!

There are 3 features that stand out.

  • Capture Notes
  • Organize & Search Notes
  • Multiple Platforms Support

Ways to Capture

You can capture notes by:

  • type text notes into the app
  • clip a web page from your browser
  • snap a photo with web cam on desktop or cellphone camera
  • grab a screenshot

Organize & Search your Notes

Once you captured the notes, they are automatically processed, indexed and made searchable. You can drag and drop notes to different tags and notebooks you create.

What makes Evernote great is its support for multiple platforms.
Once your notes are synced, you can access your notes right from a PC or Mac desktop software, or your cell phone app.

The Evernote iPhone app is a nicely designed moblie version. It’s easy to use, and it does the job.

Verdict

You can download a free (free version may have small ads) Evernote app for most popular platforms. The desktop software I tested on OS X does a great job capture and organize notes. I can easily read my notes from my iPod Touch when I am on the move. Although the Free account only has 40MB storage, it’s enough for my personal use. I personally recommend it.

Go to Evernote.com and download it.
